If a judge has ordered a retest for you after your disqualification it is usually because the original offence was of dangerous driving or driving whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Whether fair or not, whether you feel it was deserved or not – you still have to take a disqualified driver extended test. This is the ideal opportunity for you to re evaluate your driving, your attitude to driving and other road users. You will have to pass a theory and hazard perception test and you will find that the rules and the style of driving encouraged by the DSA may be very different to your current perceptions and techniques.
You may find that a lot of Instructors or Schools will not take a Disqualified Driver for retest training – it is much more difficult to teach an old dog new tricks! At Directions we have instructors who are qualified and specialise in retraining drivers – for work, pleasure, or retests! Our extensive experience has shown that most people have a lot of habits that they don’t even realise are quite dangerous. A lot of these habits will be a barrier to passing a retest for a disqualified driver. As opposed to telling you off about how you drive we will explain and help you understand why you should change some small things and we will give you new, safer habits to replace the old dangerous ones.
As a driver, we will not need to teach you how to drive – you’ve been doing that for years. We do want to help you to become a safer driver so that you don’t find yourself in the same situation again! Call 0151 288 8404, text 07813 649407 or email to talk about your needs and book a FREE ASSESSMENT . We can then work with you to develop a plan to get you back on the road as quickly and painlessly as possible.
